Just back from a really fascinating evening about MongoDB, put on by 10gen at the Long Branch Co-Working Facility.
We had Support person Jenna run through some of the recent release highlights and give us a quick run down on features for 2.2 (now at rc1), as well as upcoming features for 2.4. Next up was ranman who gave us a more technical overview, explaining the syntax in some detail. The closer was G Shipley, a Tennessee man from Red Hat who showed us a MongoDB application running on InfoShift, a Platform as a Service (PaaS) that Red Hat is running (see rhcloud.com). Naturally, the application tracked favourite beers and is called BeerShift, available on github. He has backends for everything except .. Perl.
More to come on this, I hope.
